When we go camping at Sandbanks provincial Park, we always stop at Schooners for their amazing clam chowder and fish and chips. I love the Cod but all the fish is light and flavourful! The service is fast and the cook is friendly!

Amazing clam chowder, truly one of the best I've ever had. I'm originally from the Northeast and vacation in Mass and Maine relatively often so I'd say I know my chowder pretty well. ;) Onion rings were also fantastic with well seasoned batter.
But their huge downfall are the fried oysters, fish quality and portion sizes. The oysters were 6 for $11 and so small, about the size of large tater tots. They were not good at all (fishy). The fish was not tender at all and possibly over cooked. The table next to us didn't even finish half of theirs and left. The fries were sorta chewy and dry/mealy inside. Overall, the portions are paltry for the prices. Table next to us said the same thing and that they're known for that. For example, the $4.50 plate of onion rings had 5 on the plate. A dollar an onion ring? Yikes.
Staff is slow but nice. Cook is a nice guy but didn't wear gloves while preparing food. I personally wouldn't return for anything but chowder and onion rings. -

Love the decor in this little place. The mariner's spirit is strong here. The fish and chips are pretty darn good for the price. The service is ok... not spectacular but not horrible either. It is definitely the place to go for fish and chips while in Picton.

Go here for the fish, not the atmosphere or their personality.
Both the fish and the fries are amazing, maybe the best in Ontario! I highly recommend the 2 piece haddock and chips. We didn't bother with drinks (no beer here) and it was under $30 for two. Cod is even cheaper as mentioned by another reviewer. -

I found the prices very high for the portion size of the fish. The wait staff didn't seem very engaged almost like it was taking up her time for us to be there.
